TROY — Troy Historic Village will hold a program on the Edmund Fitzgerald, one of largest and most famous freighters to sail the Great Lakes. It sank during a storm on Lake Superior on Nov. 10, 1975. None of its 29 crew members survived. 

TROY — During the election Nov. 4, Troy City Council members Rebecca Chamberlain and David Hamilton were reelected, while Annalisa Bluhm won the third seat. Each available seat was for a four-year term. Meanwhile, a bond proposal by the city was rejected.

UTICA — During the Utica City Council meeting Oct. 14, council members unanimously rejected a letter of intention from Zuniga Cement Construction Inc. to purchase 22 city-owned acres on Chapoton Street that were part of the former packing plant’s property.

TROY — The city of Troy is purchasing a Tiny Mobile Robot — a device for line-painting athletic fields and restriping parking lots.

STERLING HEIGHTS/UTICA/SHELBY TOWNSHIP — With the help of a grant from the Life Time Foundation, Havel Elementary School has received the Learn-to-Ride Program from All Kids Bike, which will provide students with the tools to learn how to ride a bike.

UTICA — Utica Community Schools has expanded its sports medicine program, part of the district’s career and technical education offerings, from one semester to a full year.

TROY — Members of a crime syndicate involved in the theft of hundreds of vehicles in the tri-county area were recently sentenced after their arrests by local law enforcement agencies.
