DETROIT — Detroit Catholic Central defeated Detroit Cass Tech 42-19 on Nov. 30 at Ford Field in the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 1 state championship football game.

DETROIT — Orchard Lake St. Mary’s won the MHSAA Division 2 state title in a 51-14 victory over Dexter on Nov. 28 at Ford Field.

BLOOMFIELD HILLS — A group of girls from around metro Detroit came together to win this season’s Girls Take The Field flag football league in Bloomfield Hills.

MIDLAND/ROCHESTER — Rochester High School senior Chad Anderson won an individual state title in the top singles flight Oct. 18 at Midland Tennis Center.

MIDLAND — After back-to-back runner-up finishes in 2023 and 2024, Birmingham Seaholm won the Division 2 boys tennis state title for the 2025 season Oct. 23 at Midland Tennis Center.

DETROIT — The Detroit Historical Museum opened the Detroit Red Wings at 100: Becoming Hockeytown exhibition to the public on Nov. 20.

ST. CLAIR SHORES — Birmingham Groves football defeated St. Clair Shores Lakeview 37-14 in a Division 2 regional final matchup on Nov. 14 at Lakeview High School.

GROSSE POINTE WOODS/MIDLAND — Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett boys tennis returned to the top of Division 4 after a convincing first place finish at Midland Tennis Center on Oct. 21.

MIDLAND/BLOOMFIELD HILLS — Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Kingswood won the 2025 Division 3 state championship Oct. 25 at Midland Tennis Center.

GRAND LEDGE/WARREN — Warren De La Salle Collegiate won the Division 2 boys soccer state championship on Nov. 1 at Grand Ledge High School with a 2-0 victory over Hudsonville Unity Christian.

NOVI — Novi’s boys tennis team left its mark at the Midland Tennis Center Oct. 18 with a third-place team finish and an individual state championship at states.

MIDLAND — The Troy High boys tennis team hoisted the 2025 MHSAA Division 1 state title trophy Oct. 18. It was the first time they had done so in four years.

METRO DETROIT — The 2025 high school football regular season has come to an end. Teams all over metro Detroit are celebrating division titles and preparing for district tournaments that kick off this weekend.

ROCHESTER — Rochester Christian University’s longtime basketball coach Klint Pleasant was inducted into the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan Hall of Fame Oct. 5.

ST. CLAIR SHORES — The Power Play for Heroes is back this year helping to raise money for Guardian Angels Medical Service Dogs and featuring Red Wings alumni from many generations. 

TROY — Skyye Frailey, a senior at Athens High, recently reached 1,000 kills in her career as an outside hitter on the school’s volleyball team.

METRO DETROIT — The end of the high school football season is near as Week 8 will be the second-to-last game of the season for most teams. This is a popular week for schools to go out of their divisions one last time before the season ends, and it also provides a handful of rivalry games.

MADISON HEIGHTS — Madison Heights Bishop Foley junior Sasha Walker took her talents to the national stage this summer and played for the Detroit Tigers NIKE RBI team.

MACOMB TOWNSHIP — L’Anse Creuse North 2016 graduate Taylor Girard saw her high school jersey hung in the school gym on Thursday, Sept. 18 during a sixth-hour assembly.

BLOOMFIELD HILLS — Longtime Brother Rice football coach and teacher Al Fracassa passed away on Sunday, Sept. 7, at 92 years old.
