TROY — The Troy Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit has made two arrests in connection with an ongoing auto theft investigation. The arrests were made with the help of the Macomb County Auto Theft Unit.

TROY — During its meeting July 28, the Troy City Council unanimously approved a contract extension with HAAS Alert so that the Troy Fire Department can continue to use the company’s advanced alert system.

TROY — The Oakland County Parks are waiting on the Michigan legislature to approve a $2.17 million grant from the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund that will pay for the county’s acquisition of Turtle Woods Nature Preserve.

UTICA — Michael Dedaj, a 28-year-old Sterling Heights man, was arrested on July 29 after an argument at the Puff Cannabis Co. in Utica escalated into a road rage incident, according to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office.

UTICA/STERLING HEIGHTS/SHELBY TOWNSHIP — Niken Patel and Logan Lawler, 2025 graduates from the Utica Center for Science and Industry, were named national champions in the SkillsUSA robotics and automation problem-solving competition earlier this summer.

UTICA — Grant Park in Utica hosted the annual Reptiles at the Park event July 25, which allowed community members to view multiple animals from the LegaSea Aquarium & The Reptarium.

TROY — At its meeting July 8, the Troy Planning Commission unanimously approved a “street vacation” request, in which the city transfers its interest in a right of way — such as a public street, walkway or alley — to private owners.

TROY — Arnav Sharma, a sophomore from International Academy East, was among the top winners at a national science fair, presenting research he believes could help patients diagnosed with ALS, a neurodegenerative disease.
