HARRISON TOWNSHIP — A Detroit man and a Clinton Township woman have been arraigned for their alleged involvement in a drive-by shooting that took place on April 25.

STERLING HEIGHTS — Two 19-year-old men from out of state are facing prison terms for their alleged involvement in a vandalism spree that spread hateful messages.

ROSEVILLE — A man from Lexington, Michigan, who was found guilty of first-degree murder last year in the death of a 63-year-old woman in October 2022, has pleaded no contest to assault charges that arose during his time in custody.

SOUTHFIELD — Taron Smith, 13, has voluntarily gone missing after returning home, according to the Southfield Police Department.

EASTPOINTE — A local man accused of a stabbing resulting in death last year has pleaded no contest to a charge of second-degree murder.

EASTPOINTE — A security guard at a cannabis dispensary in Eastpointe is facing felony charges after allegedly stabbing a man multiple times earlier this month.

SOUTHFIELD — The Southfield Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating missing 13-year-old Taron Smith.

TROY — Faddi Salim, 37, of Troy, was arraigned in the 54B District Court in East Lansing for allegedly conducting a massive Medicaid fraud scheme involving dental crowns.

OAKLAND COUNTY — The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office is reporting an uptick in phone scams from people impersonating local police and threatening residents’ arrest for failure to show up for jury service.

BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department has arrested a suspect in connection to gunshots fired April 11. According to police, there are no reported gunshot victims at this time.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel has confirmed her office will not appeal a judge’s September decision to dismiss charges against 15 residents, including Shelby Township Clerk Stanley Grot, whom Nessel accused of attempting to falsely certify Donald Trump as the state’s winner of the 2020 U.S. presidential election.

NOVI — Changlin Li, of Novi, the man who faces charges for allegedly hijacking an ambulance last October, may soon be deemed competent to stand trial, according to his attorney, Joseph Xuereb.
