ROSEVILLE — A Roseville man pleaded no contest May 20 in Macomb County Circuit Court to killing his housemate in a fight last year.

CENTER LINE — After a police investigation conducted by the Center Line Public Safety Department, three Center Line High School students are facing charges after one of them allegedly brought a handgun to school May 13.

HARRISON TOWNSHIP — A 23-year-old Detroit man has been charged in the alleged sexual assault of a teenage girl at Lake St. Clair Metropark on May 10.

WARREN — A former Michigan Army National Guard member from Melvindale is accused of planning a mass shooting, which was set for May 13, at the U.S. Army’s Tank-Automotive & Armaments Command in Warren.

ROSEVILLE — Alumni and former staff members of Roseville Community Schools went back to class May 10.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP — Clintondale Community Schools faculty, joined by supporters and faculty from other Macomb County school districts, picketed outside of the district’s May 12 Board of Education meeting at Clintondale High School.

STERLING HEIGHTS — A Sterling Heights police officer is being commended for saving a kayaker in distress.

TROY — The Troy Police Department Special Investigations Unit, in partnership with Macomb County Auto Theft Squad, recently announced the additional arrest and arraignment of 23-year-old Jordan Tyler Gray. His arrest is tied to an ongoing investigation into an organized auto theft ring operating around and beyond the southeast Michigan area.

TROY — A Detroit man has been charged for his role in the alleged theft and attempted resale of a Troy resident’s lost French bulldog.

TROY — Mayor Ethan Baker gave his State of the City Address on May 7, addressing past and present goals as well as future projects related to public safety, parks and recreation, streets and library concerns.

SOUTHFIELD/BERKLEY —  Rev. Chris Yaw, rector of St. David’s Episcopal Church in Southfield, announced the launch of Disamory Ministries on April 29. The nonprofit Christian ministry is “seeking to care for neighbors by providing gun buyback opportunities,” coupling thoughts and prayers with action to get unwanted guns off the streets. 

GROSSE POINTE CITY — Something “fishy” happened last week in The Village — but it’s a good thing.

CLAWSON — Clawson voters decided to affirm bumping the number of City Council members from five including the mayor to seven including the mayor during the May 6 special election.
