MADISON HEIGHTS — A Madison Heights man was allegedly beaten to death during an altercation on Christmas Eve, police confirmed.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP — On a brisk, sunny day, families scattered through Resurrection Cemetery to honor veterans by placing wreaths on their graves. The Wreaths Across America event took place Dec. 14 and marked the first year that the  Clinton Township Kiwanis Club organized it.

OAKLAND TOWNSHIP — A Livonia woman is dead and three others injured following a head-on crash on Rochester Road in Oakland Township Dec. 27.

FERNDALE — Ferndale police arrested a 40-year-old Mount Clemens man who allegedly assaulted two women before stealing a vehicle.

WARREN — Two Fitzgerald Public Schools administrators are facing various charges after they were arrested during separate traffic stops Dec. 20 for allegedly smoking marijuana near school grounds and driving while under the influence of drugs.

GROSSE POINTE WOODS — Police as of Dec. 20 were looking for a suspect believed to be responsible for breaking into a home in the 1900 block of Prestwick Road at around 8:20 a.m. Dec. 18.

SOUTHFIELD — “Christmas would not have been Christmas for me without the Goodfellows.” That is the conclusion of Loretta DeLoach, a Lathrup Village resident of 40 years. 

ROYAL OAK — The Royal Oak Police Department has welcomed an addition to the team, a 19-month-old, 60-pound black Labrador Retriever named Raider.

DETROIT — The nonprofit Williams Park Alliance Inc. will host the second Brightmoor Lights Holiday Festival from Dec. 18 to Jan. 3, featuring life-sized illuminated holiday displays, including symbols of Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Christmas and more.
