SOUTHFIELD — The Southfield Police Department held a press conference Dec. 29 about a shooting that took place on Christmas Day that ended with two people dead and another person injured.

DETROIT — The NCAA and the Detroit Local Organizing Committee revealed the logo for the 2027 Men’s Final Four on Friday, Dec 19, at Ford Field. The tournament games will take place at Ford Field on April 3 and April 5, 2027.

SOUTHFIELD — Fifteen-year-old Malanya Lockett has been found and reunited with family, according to the Southfield Police Department.

WARREN — No one was injured during an apartment fire Dec. 22 in Warren. At 11:53 a.m. Dec. 22, Warren firefighters responded to a report of a fire in a building in the City Center Square apartments, on the corner of Karam and Washington Court boulevards, near 13 Mile Road and Van Dyke Avenue.

SOUTHFIELD — Southfield Public Schools has been in the process of getting metal detectors into its buildings for the past year, and it will be rolling them out at Southfield High School for the Arts and Technology after the holiday break.

SOUTHFIELD – Thirteen-year-old Taron Smith, who had been reported missing on Dec. 19, has returned home safely, according to the Southfield Police Department.

WARREN — A 31-year-old man is facing charges after a pursuit in Warren, after which officers found a child in the vehicle. At approximately 9:25 p.m. Dec.

SOUTHFIELD — Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. Sigma Delta Lambda Chapter, in partnership with Meijer, will host the annual How the Alphas Gave Christmas holiday initiative Dec. 20, providing Southfield families with Meijer gift cards.

LATHRUP VILLAGE — The Lathrup Village City Council at its Dec. 15 meeting voted unanimously against a more than $220,000 preliminary engineering commitment for a proposed Southfield Road improvement project.

SOUTHFIELD — The Southfield City Council voted 5-2 in favor of a proposed data center site plan at its Dec. 15 meeting.

ROCHESTER HILLS — Two men who were convicted of murdering a man in his Rochester Hills home last fall after posing as DTE workers were sentenced to life in prison without parole.
