OAKLAND COUNTY — Clawson and Pleasant Ridge are two of the cities involved in this year’s Detroit Institute of Arts’ Inside|Out program.

GREATER WEST BLOOMFIELD — West Bloomfield native Noah Arbit took office Jan. 1 as the representative for state House District 20, which comprises all of West Bloomfield Township, eastern Commerce Township along the M-5/Haggerty corridor, Orchard Lake, Keego Harbor, Sylvan Lake, and the northwestern-most part of Bloomfield Township along Square Lake and Telegraph roads.

BIRMINGHAM — The Celebrate Birmingham Hometown Parade and Party in Shain Park will take place May 21. The parade will begin at 1 p.m., followed by a party in Shain Park ending at 4 p.m. 

BIRMINGHAM — The Guild of Artists and Artisans and the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center will once again hold Art Birmingham in Shain Park 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Sunday Mother’s Day weekend, May 13 and 14.

BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP — With summer just around the corner, the Friends of the Bloomfield Township Public Library group is giving the public the chance to purchase some educational entertainment, all while supporting the library.

BIRMINGHAM — Ian Weinberg, a junior at Seaholm High School, has published his first book, “Invest Early To Grow Your Wealth."

BIRMINGHAM — The Adopt-A-Senior program has been a valuable resource to Birmingham seniors for nearly 25 years, and Birmingham police are reminding the community that the program is available for senior residents who could benefit from someone to talk to or a helping hand.

BLOOMFIELD HILLS — Since 1997, only about 800 people have earned the National Association of Flight Instructors Master Flight Instructor accreditation. Bloomfield Hills resident and NAFI member Steven Tupper recently earned his NAFI Master Flight Instructor accreditation.

BIRMINGHAM — Around the beginning of May, the city of Birmingham is set to start a non-motorized shared-use path project with Cranbrook.

BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP — Two women who were banned from entering Michigan because of previous criminal activity were reportedly caught stealing from a store in Bloomfield Township.

BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP— An outcry of concern from Bloomfield Township residents has prompted the Michigan Department of Transportation to keep the Square Lake Road ramp to the eastbound Interstate 75 business loop.
