ROYAL OAK/CLAWSON/BERKLEY — The Royal Oak, Berkley and Clawson school districts, and their cities,  are all continuing to share the message that Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Jan. 19 is “a day on, not a day off.” 

ROYAL OAK — Stagecrafters is bringing to the second stage a special and unique story titled “5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche” Jan. 16-25 at the Baldwin Theater, 415 S. Lafayette Ave.

ROYAL OAK — The city of Royal Oak announced on Dec. 9 that Joe Gacioch will no longer serve as the city manager. 

ROYAL OAK — The city’s changes to its parking system are slated to be complete by Jan. 2, installing what it believes will be easy-to-use parking meters, signage and a new payment app.

CLAWSON — Clawson held a special City Council meeting Dec. 8 to interview applicants for the vacant spot on the City Council previously held by now-Mayor Susan Moffitt, and when the time came for a decision, the council unanimously chose Alec Speshock. 

ROYAL OAK — Chanukah begins on the evening of Dec. 14 and goes until Dec. 22. To help families celebrate the occasion, the Royal Oak Chabad Jewish Center is hosting its annual Menorah Lighting and Chanukah Village Walk on Dec. 18.

ROYAL OAK — St. Paul Lutheran Church and school is the longest-serving church in Oakland County, and it just celebrated more than 150 years and some renovations with a ribbon cutting on Dec. 2.

SOUTHFIELD — The annual Southfield tree lighting ceremony will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 2 on the front lawn of the Southfield Municipal Campus, 26000 Evergreen Road.
