CLAWSON — An online survey taken in the fall of 2023 logged the feelings and opinions of Clawson residents.

ROYAL OAK — The Royal Oak Planning Commission Jan. 9 unanimously approved a special land use and site plan that will allow the city’s animal shelter to relocate from its current location at 1515 North Edgeworth Ave. to 2005 Bellaire Ave., near East 12 Mile Road.

ROYAL OAK — The downtown parking situation has been affected ever since the beginning of COVID-19, resulting in an automobile parking fund deficit and negative working capital as of June 30, 2023, which required the City Commission to take action on a deficit elimination plan for the Michigan Department of Treasury.

ROYAL OAK — Improvements are to be made at Dickinson Park after the City Commission gave unanimous approval to a proposal from the Recreation Department Jan. 22.

ROYAL OAK — The Royal Oak Public Library has had a substantial change in attendance and use within the last year.

ROYAL OAK — In a unanimous vote at the Jan. 8 City Commission meeting, the commission decided to create a local officers compensation commission to review the compensation that city officials receive.

CLAWSON — In a fairly heated discussion at the Jan. 2 City Council meeting, the council decided to set up a workshop to further discuss the fiscal year 2024 goals and objectives.

ROYAL OAK — Winter is not over, and the Winter Blast is going to prove it in downtown Royal Oak in February.

ROYAL OAK — Shrine Catholic High School’s four National Honor Society officers visited Brewer Academy in Detroit on Dec. 14 to give the students Christmas gifts this holiday season.

CLAWSON — The Clawson Public Schools Board of Education and the City Council are joining forces following the approval of a joint task force at the Dec. 19 City Council meeting.

ROYAL OAK — The Royal Oak City Commission unanimously approved the design for the city’s first public restroom building at the commission meeting Dec. 18.

OAKLAND COUNTY — School districts in Berkley, Clawson and Royal Oak will be coming together to honor Martin Luther King Jr. with their annual “A Day On, Not a Day Off” event.

ROYAL OAK — To build excitement for the release of “The Color Purple,” the Detroit Youth Choir joined Royal Oak Emagine theater Dec. 17 to put on a holiday-themed performance in honor of the new movie that will open on Dec. 25.
