BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP — Bloomfield Township residents will have the opportunity to meet township staff during a fun, family-friendly event with refreshments and activities at the Bloomfield Township campus, 4200 Telegraph Road.

BIRMINGHAM — The Michigan Department of Education has announced two winners of the 2025 Michigan Green Ribbon Schools awards — Birmingham Public Schools’ West Maple Elementary and the Lansing School District. The award honors schools and other learning institutions for their efforts towards sustainability.

BIRMINGHAM — Patricia Andrews, a Birmingham teacher and historian, dedicated much of her life to serving the Birmingham area as a resident of 75 years. Now her legacy continues through an outdoor reading garden that was recently installed.

BLOOMFIELD HILLS — Voters in the Bloomfield Hills Schools district will decide on a 1.5-mill sinking fund replacement proposal that would be an increase over the expiring levy by just over 0.8 mills for 10 years. The measure will be decided in the Nov. 4 election.  

BIRMINGHAM/ BEVERLY HILLS — In 2008, Schools Offer Support was started after five women in a coffee shop came up with a way to bring together parents and students to support their high school community.

BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Village Players are kicking off their 103rd season with a classic musical that has touched audiences’ hearts for over 60 years: “Man of La Mancha.”

BEVERLY HILLS — Judson Center’s Lahser Children’s Respite Home, located at 31111 Lahser Road in Beverly Hills, will be closing its doors Sept. 28. The closure follows a ruling that the center is no longer in compliance with Michigan Public Act 116.

SOUTHFIELD/ TROY — Artist Keven Bahoora uses natural materials in his art, which is being displayed indefinitely at the Italcasa showroom in the Michigan Design Center, 1700 Stutz Drive, Suite 25, in Troy.

BLOOMFIELD HILLS — Bloomfield Hills Schools has upgraded its athletic facilities using 2020 bond money.

BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham City Commission decided to not go forward with a $36,640,000 bond proposal for the Birmingham community and senior center at a meeting Aug. 11.

BEVERLY HILLS — Local theater educators are coming together to put on a show of their own this summer. The Oakland Theatre Project presents “Web of Murder,” by Jonathan Troy, with a cast and crew made up almost entirely of teachers and directors from Oakland and Macomb counties.

FRANKLIN — The Franklin Community Association will be holding its 80th annual Labor Day Round Up 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 1, at FCA Park.

BIRMINGHAM — Birmingham has consolidated its nine election precincts into five to improve efficiency and lower costs. This change means most voters will have different precinct numbers and polling places.
