WEST BLOOMFIELD — West Bloomfield Middle School has received some lofty recognition, as the International Center for Leadership in Education named it as a 2023 Model School.

BERKLEY — The Berkley Schools Board of Education has approved an $88 million bond proposal to appear on the ballot for the Aug. 8 election.

MOUNT CLEMENS — After lengthy interviews, late-night meetings and plenty of research into each candidate, the Mount Clemens Community Schools Board of Education selected Julian Roper to serve as the district’s new superintendent on May 2.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — Shelby Junior High School is well represented among the 101 teams from 27 states that have qualified for the 2023 American Rocketry Challenge National Finals.

TROY — The Boys & Girls Club of Troy announced April 13 that Brother Rice High School senior Owen Obasuyi was selected as its 2023 Youth of the Year.

TROY — A new scholarship for young music students is being started in honor of a longtime music teacher from Troy.

NOVI — Over 250 people attended the Novi Educational Foundation’s annual Green Gala Fundraiser April 15 at Suburban Collection Showplace. The event, which was presented by Feldman Automotive, netted just over $56,000 for the foundation.

SOUTHFIELD — Back in November of 2022, 22,030 voters in the Southfield Public Schools district said “yes” to a $345 million capital facilities bond proposal on the ballot.

NOVI — The Novi Community School District was represented by four teams at the robotics world  competition this month. The teams included two middle school teams and two high school teams — Frog Force and the new and less-well-known Automated Amphibians.

NOVI — Local children’s author and illustrator Caroline Kerfoot, of West Bloomfield, spoke to students at Orchard Hills Elementary School in Novi March 25 about her book, “Hi, I’m Fox!”
