MACOMB COUNTY — Despite some odd winter weather, cold-weather traffic safety concerns have not melted away.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP — The last meeting of a politically deadlocked group brought one final flash-up on Feb. 26 as the  Clinton Township Board of Trustees voted 3-3 on paying the bills for the State of Clinton Township address.

HAZEL PARK — A local man stands accused of attempted murder after reportedly slashing his father with a knife.

MADISON HEIGHTS — Last year, when the Madison Heights Arts Board told the City Council its plans for the year, it included a proposal to secure a bandshell for Civic Center Park in five years. As a result, city staff got involved and grants were found.

HAZEL PARK — Over the years, the Detroit Institute of Arts has partnered with cities across the tri-county area to transform building exteriors into spectacular outdoor murals. Now, the DIA is looking to do the same in Hazel Park, and your feedback is needed.

MADISON HEIGHTS/HAZEL PARK — Nearly 20 restaurants, pubs and cafes will offer special deals as part of the annual Green Crawl, set for March 15, the Friday before St. Patrick’s Day.

MADISON HEIGHTS — Earlier this year, the city of Madison Heights completed negotiations with its labor unions for an increase in wages and benefits that officials say reflect a positive dialogue between the two sides.

BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP — Voters in Bloomfield Township hit the polls Feb. 27 to decide a millage renewal for the Bloomfield Township Library, with the measure passing by over 72%, according to unofficial election results from the Oakland County Elections Division.

ST. CLAIR SHORES — St. Germaine Catholic School has hit both of its fundraising goals and is still working on its enrollment goal of 150 students.

ROCHESTER — Voters in the Rochester Community Schools district hit the polls Feb. 27 to decide on the renewal of a non-homestead school operating millage, with the measure passing by 74%, according to unofficial election results from Oakland and Macomb counties.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP — Republican Dan Kress won the Feb. 27 election for the open Clinton Township Board of Trustees seat for a partial term which will be up for election again this November. Kress won with a 51.

TROY — The Michigan Design Center in Troy is inviting the public in to join them for its “ArtWalk at MDC” on Friday, March 22.

STERLING HEIGHTS — Local firefighters, Macomb County officials and others recently moved into action to keep a semi-truck’s diesel spill from becoming a major environmental threat to local watercourses. 

BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP — A man accused of stealing credit cards was later also charged with fleeing and eluding after eventually turning himself in to police.

WARREN — Two Warren men have been charged following a fatal crash at 10 Mile and Ryan roads on Feb. 25.

MACOMB COUNTY — Although inflation has decreased in recent months, “I don’t know if we’re out of the woods,” said Thomas Alongi, a partner with the UHY accounting firm, in Sterling Heights.

FARMINGTON HILLS — Farmington Suicide Awareness For Everyone, known as “SAFE,” is hosting a community conversation on Black youth mental health from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 28, at The Hawk, located at 29995 W. Twelve Mile Road in Farmington Hills.

FARMINGTON — The Farmington Public School District community is on edge following allegations of  racial and cultural discrimination within the  school district. 

MOUNT CLEMENS — A suspect has been arrested in connection with a morning shooting in Mount Clemens on Friday, Feb. 23. Around 7:10 a.m., Macomb County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the 200 block of Hubbard Street in response to a reported shooting.
