SHELBY TOWNSHIP — The Shelby Township Police Department will soon be introducing a new micro-robotic technology to the team. The Shelby Township Board of Trustees on June 18 approved the Police Department’s request to purchase a Throwbot 2 from Recon Robotics, a company that sells tactical micro-robot and personal sensor systems in Minnesota.

UTICA  — A Utica man was arraigned June 10 at the 41-A District Court after being pulled over by Utica police for allegedly driving a moped on Hall Road while intoxicated. Police said it was the man’s 14th arrest for operating while intoxicated.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP  — Shelby Township Police Chief Robert Shelide recently was chosen as Administrator of the Year by the Police Officers Association of Michigan. POAM is an organization that provides labor-related services for law enforcement officers. It is Michigan’s largest police labor union. This was the first time that Shelide had been nominated for this award.
