FERNDALE — It’s been several months since the developers behind a proposed new car wash in Ferndale have come before the city.

GROSSE POINTE WOODS — Grosse Pointe Woods could soon be home to a combination Dunkin’ and Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream establishment.

ROYAL OAK — The Royal Oak Chamber of Commerce will host the State of the Chamber and an awards ceremony 9-10:30 a.m. March 26 at the Red Run Golf Club, 2036 Rochester Road. 

FERNDALE — Ferndale’s largest park will be getting new playground equipment as early as this fall.

BERKLEY — Construction of updates to Tyler Park have begun and will continue through the fall.

ROCHESTER HILLS — Over the past few years, Michigan has seen rapid growth in the development of data centers, leaving communities to decide whether to let them in.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — Sheetz is opening 14 new restaurant and convenience store locations in metro Detroit in 2026, including one in Shelby Township.

ST. CLAIR SHORES — A little over two years ago, St. Germaine Catholic School in St. Clair Shores closed its doors at the end of the academic year after a fundraising effort by school families and the St. Clair Shores community apparently came up short.

ST. CLAIR SHORES — On March 2, the St. Clair Shores City Council approved a site plan for the former Rite Aid building on Jefferson Avenue at Marter Road in a 7-0 vote. 

WEST BLOOMFIELD — The West Bloomfield Planning Commission recently denied a car wash that applied for a site at Maple and Farmington roads.

WEST BLOOMFIELD — The West Bloomfield Planning Commission approved a special land use, site plan and stormwater management plan that will redevelop a half-acre vacant commercial parcel into a Jiffy Lube automotive center.

ROYAL OAK — Downtown Royal Oak is currently in the middle of Royal Oak Restaurant Week, where local restaurants are showcasing their cuisine and specially crafted menus. 

TROY — Troy may soon see space for a shooting range that also sells firearms and provides training classes for those with a concealed pistol license.

GROSSE POINTES/ST. CLAIR SHORES — Give your kitchen a break and leave the cooking to someone else. The Grosse Pointe Chamber of Commerce’s Grosse Pointe Restaurant Week — March 1 to 7 — will feature delicious deals and dining options at dozens of local eateries.

PLEASANT RIDGE — Pleasant Ridge soon will be adding new charging stations for electric vehicles.

BIRMINGHAM — The ownership of the store at 34244 Woodward Ave. changed hands from Papa Joe’s to Market Square.

MADISON HEIGHTS — Starting this spring, the hospital at Dequindre and 11 Mile roads will undergo a retrofit converting much of the building to an inpatient behavioral health facility.

STERLING HEIGHTS — Sheetz has paused its plans to build at a busy Sterling Heights intersection.
