EASTPOINTE — For his 12th birthday, Charlie Jones’ grandmother, Vina “Gran” Sullivan, promised him a trip anywhere in North America.

EASTPOINTE — There was an extra police presence Oct. 23 at Pleasantview Elementary School after a parent allegedly threatened an employee and the school community Oct. 22.

ROSEVILLE — Paul Tregembo Sr. had a passion for cars, and for 46 years he shared that energy with the students he taught in auto shop class at Roseville High School.

CENTER LINE — The Center Line High School homecoming parade Oct. 18 gave schools officials the opportunity to publicly celebrate being a district for 125 years.

CENTER LINE — Criminal charges have been brought against a woman who crashed her car into a Center Line home earlier this month. On Oct. 13 at approximately 2:55 a.m., 20-year-old Caris Adell Wade, of Detroit, allegedly crashed her vehicle into a residence at the Kramer Homes Co-Op in Center Line, near MacArthur Boulevard and O’Hare Street. 

WARREN — He’s the ghost with the most, and he doesn’t have any rules. The ghoulish character of Beetlejuice will haunt the Warren Community Center stage when the Warren Civic Theatre presents “Beetlejuice Jr.” Nov. 7-9.

STERLING HEIGHTS — When L. Broas “Bud” Mann turned 100 years old last month — or as some would say, 100 years young — many family members and friends wanted to wish him a happy birthday.

EASTPOINTE — The Michigan Military Technical and Historical Society’s 20-ton tank monument has arrived.

EASTPOINTE — Educators around the state, including those in local districts, finally have a school aid budget. 

WARREN — Completing a project several years in the making, the new Steve & Kathy McShane STEM Innovation Center has opened at De La Salle Collegiate High School.

WARREN — In 1925, a group of women formed the Ukrainian National Women’s League of America.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP — Macomb Community College accounting professor Shirley Glass was an instructor at the school for 55 years, encouraging her students to strive for their personal best and also mentoring her colleagues when needed.

WARREN — Suzanne Finley is probably John Waite’s biggest fan. The Dryden resident has attended his concerts since 1985, including shows at Sterlingfest, the Magic Bag in Ferndale, Pine Knob in Clarkston and the Ritz in Roseville (with Bad English). She even drove to Cincinnati once to see him live.
