TROY — A section of the Troy Public Library will need to shut down for approximately six weeks to facilitate repairs and cleaning to its heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems. However, some residents are displeased that such work has to take place.

ORCHARD LAKE — The Polish Institute of Culture & Research at Orchard Lake is inviting the public to attend a discussion by author and professor Dr. Jadwiga Biskupska who will present her award-winning book, “Survivors: Warsaw under Nazi Occupation.”

FERNDALE — A new library director has begun his tenure at the Ferndale Area District Library. Jordan Wright, a longtime employee of the library, was hired as the Ferndale Area District Library’s new director and began work Jan. 22.

FRANKLIN — The Franklin Public Library is hosting an all-new program for Black History Month at 7 p.m. Feb. 13.

NOVI — The Novi Public Library is inviting teens and tweens to join them for a Hackathon Coding Workshop.

ROYAL OAK — The Royal Oak Public Library has had a substantial change in attendance and use within the last year.

ROCHESTER — The Rochester Hills Public Library hit a major milestone this year, celebrating a century of service.

BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP — The Bloomfield Township Public Library plans to ask voters to approve a millage renewal in February that officials say would keep the library on solid financial footing.

MADISON HEIGHTS — An estimated six million Jews were murdered by Nazi Germany and its allies during the Holocaust and World War II, many of them in state-sponsored death camps. Today, those who witnessed the horrors firsthand are dwindling in number, while a recent report points to an increase in antisemitic hate crimes.

SOUTHFIELD — Since last February, the Southfield Public Library has hosted a Family Research Forum 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month for people seeking to uncover their genealogy.

EASTPOINTE/ROSEVILLE — Staff at the Roseville Public Library and the Eastpointe Memorial Library are looking forward to bringing new programs to the public and 2024 and continuing some of the successful programs begun in the past year.

FRASER — The Fraser Public Library is going to start the new year with some brand-new programs to engage patrons and highlight some fun and enlightening books.

BIRMINGHAM — The Baldwin Public Library is home to the Idea Lab, a hub for creative minds to access resources to help them make their vision come to life.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — As the winter chill settles in, the Shelby Township Library is inviting the public to join them for its annual Christmas Book Bundle sale.

HUNTINGTON WOODS — The Huntington Woods Library is letting folks get in the holiday spirit with its Holiday Book Sale.

BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP — The Bloomfield Township Public Library is teaming up with the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre, and Dance to present the first Chamber Music Concert of the season on Friday, Dec. 1, at 7 p.m.

GROSSE POINTE FARMS — The Central Branch of the Grosse Pointe Public Library, at 10 Kercheval Ave. in Grosse Pointe Farms, is again open and serving patrons after a significant renovation and expansion project shuttered its doors for more than a year.
