1. Sterlingfest
July 28-30 • Sterling Heights
Check out art, music, carnival rides and a midway, a local author book sale and signing, restaurant and food vendors, the SterlingFAST 5K Fun Run & Walk, free activities and live family entertainment, and more during Sterlingfest July 28-30. The popular summer event will be held each day from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on and around the city of Sterling Heights campus, 40555 Utica Road. Highlights will include fireworks on Thursday, Jefferson Starship on Friday and Uncle Kracker on Saturday. 2. Orchard Lake Fine Art Show
July 30-31 • West Bloomfield
The 19th Orchard Lake Fine Art Show will come to West Bloomfield, on Powers and Daly roads, south of Maple Road and west of Orchard Lake Road, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 30 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 31. Past events have featured 140-150 artists and brought in 7,000-10,000 attendees. 3. Rocket Mortgage Classic

For the fourth year, the city of Detroit is hosting the Rocket Mortgage Classic at the Detroit Golf Club, 17911 Hamilton Road. Rickie Fowler and 2021 Rocket Mortgage Classic champion Cam Davis are among the 156-man field competing July 28-31. 4. Shakespeare on stage
Starting July 28 • Royal Oak and Rochester Hills
The nonprofit Shakespeare Royal Oak will kick off its 21st season with eight performances of "Romeo and Juliet" July 28-31 (and Aug. 4-7) at Starr Jaycee Park, 1321 W. 13 Mile Road. Opening night is scheduled for 8 p.m. The July 29 show will be a fundraiser featuring wine and charcuterie, photos on the Shakespeare Royal Oak stage, a silent auction and more starting at 6 p.m. Catch an abridged version of “As You Like It” by the Shakespeare Royal Oak Teen Ensemble at 7 p.m. July 31 (and Aug. 1-2). For more information, call (248) 399-3727 or visit

5. Grace Christian Music Festival
July 30 • Harrison Township
The Grace Christian Music Festival — featuring concerts, a comedian, inflatables, food trucks, a prayer tent, a kids zone, vendors and more — will open at 11 a.m. July 30 at Lake St. Clair Metropark, 31300 Metro Parkway in Harrison Township. Tickets cost $30 and must be purchased at
