Chamber music Oakland Winterfest coming to Oakland University

ROCHESTER — Oakland University will host its three-concert chamber music series, Oakland Winterfest, Saturday, Feb. 24 through Friday, March 1

Seven artists will take the stage at Varner Recital Hall on the campus of Oakland University, located at 371 Varner Drive in Rochester.

The Aizuri Quartet will perform at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24. They are the 2022 winners of the prestigious Cleveland Quartet Award. Their program features selections from the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries.

Seth Parker Woods and Friends will perform on Sunday, Feb. 25 at 3 p.m. Nominated for this year’s Grammy Award for Best Classical Instrumental Performance, cellist Seth Parker Woods will lead a group of musicians on pieces such as “Transfigured Night” by the 25-year-old Arnold Schoenberg, and works for cello and piano by Beethoven and Walker.

The final performance will be pianist Michael Stephen Brown at 8 p.m. on Friday, Mar. 1. After finding success online,  Brown is making his live concert debut at his Detroit-area performances this winter before moving on to a performance at Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center in New York.
