SOUTHFIELD — The city of Southfield and the Southfield Area Chamber of Commerce brought a holiday celebration to the small business community Nov. 10 at the Best Western Premier Hotel.

ROYAL OAK — After being forced to shut down two years ago, HopCat will be making its return to downtown Royal Oak.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP — As local businesses around Metro Detroit are preparing for Small Business Saturday on Nov. 25, many are reporting a positive year and strong predictions for the holiday season. That’s despite recent hardships and the continuing difficulties related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

BIRMINGHAM — Birmingham will embrace the holiday season once again with its annual Winter Markt.

BIRMINGHAM — In the 1950s, Birmingham became home to a department store called Jacobson’s, which became very popular throughout the community. In 2003, the store closed, but its memory still lives on at the Birmingham Museum’s “Jacobson’s Experience.”

MACOMB COUNTY — As Thanksgiving draws closer, local businesses are looking forward to the busiest time of the year: the holiday shopping season and Small Business Saturday.

SOUTHFIELD — After COVID put it on hold for two years, the Potters Market is back in time for the holiday season, with more than 35,000 pieces of pottery on offer from 124 artists, including 55 artists making their debut at the show.

HAZEL PARK/MADISON HEIGHTS — Small Business Saturday is Nov. 26, an opportunity to appreciate the many unique shops that keep the local economy humming.

ROCHESTER — The Paint Creek Trailways Commission has been awarded a $50,000 grant to cover design engineering for the replacement of Bridge 31.7 along the Paint Creek Trail, just north of downtown Rochester.

BIRMINGHAM — Local restaurants and artists are coming together once again for the 19th year of the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center’s “Shop and Champagne.” Due to the pandemic, this event has been on hiatus for the last two years.

ST. CLAIR SHORES — Work on the Blossom Heath Park pier project continued into November with ongoing improvements, restoration work and the expected addition of new features.

ROCHESTER — A new development is in the works to take the place of Rochester’s oldest business, the Rochester Elevator Co., at the corner of University and Water streets in downtown Rochester.

GROSSE POINTE CITY — To assist local businesses and encourage shoppers to patronize their neighborhood stores, weekend parking in The Village will once again be free this holiday season in off-street surface parking lots.

GROSSE POINTE WOODS — Ahee Jewelers in Grosse Pointe Woods has been a go-to location for generations of local families in search of engagement rings and fine jewelry gifts, but the family-owned business has also been just as well known for its charitable work in the community.

BIRMINGHAM — After two years, the renovation work to the Birmingham Adult Transition Program building has been completed. A formal ribbon cutting was held Oct. 25.
