Police are searching for a man they say shot a man walking from his vehicle to his home in the Charter Square Apartments, on Century Drive, near Rochester and Big Beaver roads, at about 7:45 p.m. March 14.

According to witnesses, when the victim arrived home he was confronted by an unknown suspect, described as a black man, 6 feet 2 inches tall, 220 pounds. The suspect was wearing black clothing and some sort of mask over his face.

He reportedly demanded valuables from the victim, who complied, throwing items on the sidewalk, police said.

The victim turned and ran, and the robber fired two rounds, striking the victim at least once, according to the police report.

Police and paramedics treated the victim and transported him to a hospital.

Troy police Sgt. Meghan Lehman said he is expected to recover.
