GROSSE POINTE FARMS — One of the more historic rivalries in the state of Michigan, Grosse Pointe North and Grosse Pointe South went head-to-head on Oct. 20 at South High School.

OAKLAND COUNTY — Up to $200 million in medical debt for Oakland County residents will be erased through a new partnership with a nonprofit organization.

STERLING HEIGHTS — The United Auto Workers’ strike spread further in Michigan on Monday when 6,800 employees at the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant walked out, shutting down production at what the union called “Stellantis’ largest plant and biggest moneymaker.”

BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP —  An 18-year-old man has been accused of a summer crime spree targeting multiple cars and homes in Bloomfield Township and Troy.

OAKLAND COUNTY — As of Sept. 11, three Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation bus routes have been extended into Novi and Wixom.

WEST BLOOMFIELD — In a recent letter addressed to parents of West Bloomfield School District students, the district’s superintendent, Dania H. Bazzi, acknowledged an error that was discovered during the annual reconciliation of the district’s budget.

MOUNT CLEMENS — As municipal elections draw closer, hopefuls for the Mount Clemens City Commission and mayor delivered the case for their candidacy at a candidate forum hosted at the Mount Clemens Public Library on Oct. 5.

FARMINGTON HILLS — Officers from the Farmington Hills Police Department responded to the Timber Ridge Apartments after receiving a 911 call reporting a stabbing in progress at approximately 1:50 a.m. Sept. 29, according to a press release from the city of Farmington Hills.

WARREN — When Piper Bognar began working as McKinley Elementary School principal in 2010, Van Dyke Public Schools Board of Education member Eleanor Bates was there to welcome her.

WARREN — A 13-year-old Carter Middle School student was arraigned on charges Oct. 17 after he allegedly threatened to “shoot up the school and kill a student.”

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — A man has been arraigned for allegedly murdering his mother-in-law in her Shelby Township home Oct. 12.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — A Utica Community Schools bus was involved in a crash in Shelby Township Oct. 13 on Schoenherr Road.

It was rivalry weekend all around the state of Michigan, and the bragging rights for the city of St. Clair Shores were up for grabs on Oct. 13 at Lake Shore High School for the game against Lakeview.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — It doesn’t get much better than a rivalry game in any sport, but Utica and Utica Eisenhower have an extra element to their neighborhood clash.

WARREN — A Hazel Park man was arraigned on charges in 37th District Court in Warren on Oct. 3 for his alleged role in the stabbing death of his wife of 15 years.

METRO DETROIT — Several communities throughout southeast Michigan are preparing to implement early voting, which allows in-person voting in elections up to nine days prior to Election Day.

ROCHESTER — On Nov. 7, Rochester residents will vote on two ballot proposals relating to the sale of cannabis in the city.

FRASER — The city of Fraser will host a fundraiser to support the Know Resolve nonprofit and its mission of raising awareness of mental health issues.
