1. Taco Fest and Fine Art Fair
Aug. 26-28 • Twelve Mile Crossing at Fountain Walk, Novi
Novi's Taco Fest and Fine Art Fair will take place from 4 to 11 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at Twelve Mile Crossing at Fountain Walk, 44425 W. 12 Mile Road, near Emagine Theatre. The event will include taco and hot pepper eating contests, food trucks, live music, Lucha Libre wrestling, a cutest dog contest, award-winning artists and more. Admission costs $5 per person or $10 for a three-day pass if purchased in advance; at the door, tickets will cost $10. 2. Clawson Fest
Aug. 27 • Downtown Clawson
The second annual Clawson Fest will close out the summer in the downtown area from 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday. The event will feature live music from Oak City Roots, the Bob Mervak Trio and Strange Heart in the parking lot at 43 S. Main St., south of 14 Mile Road. Local restaurants will provide craft food and beverages for purchase; local artisans will present a range of products, including furniture, candles, soap and wood products; and local vendors will offer handmade artwork, jewelry, henna, unique gifts and more. A kids zone will include a rubber duck pond; caricatures; face-painting; the opportunity to pan for gemstones, crystals and stones; and hand-spun cotton candy and licorice ropes. For more information, visit clawsonfest.com.


3. Warren Birthday Bash
Aug. 25-27 • Warren City Square
The Warren Birthday Bash will feature an array of activities on select days at Warren City Square, 1 City Square. The carnival will begin at 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday and noon Saturday. A petting zoo will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday. Fireworks will light up the sky at 9:45 p.m. Friday. Enjoy a magic show from 6 to 7 p.m. and a fire and juggling show from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday. The Polish Day parade will start at 2:45 p.m. Saturday, followed by a polka set by the Kielbasa Kings at 4 p.m. More live music will consist of country bands Silver Studz (5-6:30 p.m.) and Joey V (7:30-9 p.m.) Thursday; rock n' roll by American Ages (5:30-7 p.m.) and Laughing Madmen (8-9:30 p.m.) Friday; and cover bands Captain Fantastic Detroit (Elton John tribute, 7-8:30 p.m.) and Katmandu (Bob Seger tribute, 9:30-11 p.m.) Saturday. 4. Slovak Festival
Aug. 26-28 • Saints Cyril and Methodius Parish, Sterling Heights
Goulash, palacinky crepes and more food offerings will be part of the Slovak Festival from 6 to 11 p.m. Friday, 3 to 11 p.m. Saturday and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at Saints Cyril and Methodius Parish, 41233 Ryan Road in Sterling Heights. 5. Family Praise and Picnic in the Park
Aug. 28 • Rochester Municipal Park
The Family Praise and Picnic in the Park is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the band shell in Rochester Municipal Park, 400 Sixth St. The event will include a worship ceremony featuring music and a message of hope; a free picnic lunch; an ice cream social; activities and entertainment for all ages; an exhibition of cars, trucks, tractors and motorcycles; a parade featuring decorated bikes, trikes, wagons, scooters and strollers; door prize tickets at the welcome table; and more. Attendees should use the Pine Street park entrance, north of University Drive, just west of Rochester Road, where parking is available. Aug. 27-28 • Green Acres Park, Hazel Park
Ninety-plus artist vendors are scheduled to be at the Hazel Park Art Fair from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Green Acres Park, 620 W.
