The 2015 prep football season kicked off last week, but now things get really interesting, as teams from all over Macomb County will engage in divisional battles this weekend.

Every Macomb Area Conference game pits divisional foes against each other. Michigan Collegiate (Charter School League) and Macomb Lutheran North (Catholic High School League Intersectional) also play divisional games.

In our Thursday edition of Five for Friday for Week 2, we start with a clash of MAC Red Division titans.

MAC Red showdown
Macomb Dakota (1-0) vs. Clinton Township Chippewa Valley (1-0) — 7 p.m. Sept. 3
Chippewa Valley started the season with a big 35-28 win over Lake Orion in the 2015 Prep Kickoff Classic. No team may have had a bigger win in Week 1 than Dakota, though, as it knocked off two-time defending Division 1 state champ Clarkston 35-10. Dakota and Chippewa Valley have had some battles over the years, including two in 2014 — Dakota won 42-21 in week 2 and Chippewa ended Dakota’s season with a 28-27 win in a district final. Dakota leads the all-time series 17-7. Dakota is 15-1 vs. Chippewa Valley since 2004. Check our website following the game for a full recap.

Battle in the Shores
St. Clair Shores Lake Shore (1-0) vs. St. Clair Shores South Lake (1-0) — 7 p.m. Sept. 3
New South Lake coach Vernard Snowden started his tenure with a huge 60-6 win over St. Clair Shores Lakeview Aug. 27. The Cavs will look to go 2-0 vs. city foes for the first time since 2012 when they take on Lake Shore in a MAC Silver tussle. Lake Shore started its 90th season with a 32-27 win Aug. 27 on the road against Port Huron Northern. South Lake beat Lake Shore 40-7 last season for its fifth win in the series. All but one of those wins came by at least 20 points.

Momentum swing?
Warren Mott (1-0) vs. Macomb L’Anse Creuse North (1-0) — 7 p.m. Sept. 3
Mott holds a 12-3 mark all-time vs. LCN and has won the last three meetings by an average of 25 points. The Marauders won the 2014 game by just four points, though. LCN hasn’t beaten Mott since 2007. The teams have done battle as foes in three MAC divisions. Now in the MAC Red, Mott and LCN will look for an early league win to stay in the division title race.

Start of something special?
Utica Ford (1-0) vs. Utica High (1-0) — 7 p.m. Sept. 3 at Sterling Heights Stevenson
Back-to-back wins to start a season have been a rarity for MAC White foes Ford and Utica High. The Falcons have started 2-0 once (2014) since 2005. The Chieftains have done it once (2010) as well. Ford beat Utica High 23-21 in Week 2 in 2014 to move to 17-7 in the series. Utica High, though, leads the series 4-3 since 2000.

Roseville rebound
Roseville High (1-0) at Grosse Pointe North (0-1) — 7 p.m. Sept. 3
Roseville High opened up the season with a 43-0 win over rival East Detroit. Grosse Pointe North fell 34-12 to Hartland. North beat Roseville 18-7 last season to move to 9-2 overall in the series.  The Panthers, though, are 2-1 in the last three meetings between MAC Blue rivals.  The last time the teams met with North coming off a loss was Week 9 in 2004. North won 28-7.
