HARRISON TOWNSHIP — Prior to the start of the season, Harrison Township L’Anse Creuse softball coach Lisa Downey said she was excited to get going, and her team has done nothing thus far to temper that excitement. At press time, the Lancers were 16-3 overall and 5-0 in the Macomb Area Conference Blue Division — good for first place in the league.

GROSSE POINTES — Last season, Grosse Pointe North’s softball team was on the verge of winning the program’s first regional championship since 1992. With the Norsemen and Garden City High tied 1-1 after seven innings in a Division 1 regional final, the game went into an extra inning.
