FERNDALE — A fire that ignited a Ferndale home Jan. 29 was strong enough to force its eventual demolition.

PLEASANT RIDGE — The topic of short-term rentals in Pleasant Ridge came forth again at a recent City Commission meeting.

FERNDALE — Ferndale will be busy keeping its roads maintained this year. The City Council, at its Jan. 12 meeting, approved a $70,990 contract for its pavement joint and crack sealing program.

BERKLEY — Berkley’s annual event celebrating the winter season will be back next month. Berkley’s WinterFest will be held from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7, outside the Berkley Community Center, 2400 Robina Ave.

OAKLAND COUNTY — As a new year dawns, leaders in Ferndale, Berkley, Huntington Woods and Pleasant Ridge are looking ahead to what they want to focus on in 2026.

ROYAL OAK/CLAWSON/BERKLEY — The Royal Oak, Berkley and Clawson school districts, and their cities,  are all continuing to share the message that Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Jan. 19 is “a day on, not a day off.” 

FERNDALE — More than $30,000 will be given to local charities as part of the fundraising from this year’s Ferndale Pride.

At its Dec. 9 meeting, the City Commission heard potential ideas on how to regulate short-term rentals through an ordinance.

FERNDALE/BERKLEY — The snowfall hit southeast Michigan a bit earlier than some cities anticipated, but Ferndale and Berkley were ready to battle the inclement weather.
