SOUTHFIELD — A 70-year-old woman died in a condo fire the afternoon of Nov. 4.

SOUTHFIELD — At its Oct. 28 meeting, the Southfield City Council voted unanimously against a Kroger gas station proposal for 19991 W. 12 Mile Road, at the former Bank of America building.

LATHRUP VILLAGE — On Nov. 5, Lathrup Village residents were presented with two cannabis proposals, one to repeal the prohibition of cannabis establishments within the boundaries of the city and one to authorize and allow cannabis businesses and establish fees and regulations for two cannabis retail facilities.

SOUTHFIELD/LATHRUP VILLAGE — In the Nov. 5 election, two candidates ran for one six-year judgeship of the 46th District Court, with  incumbent Debra Nance coming out on top.

OAKLAND COUNTY — In Oakland County, current officeholders ranging from the county executive to the sheriff and more held onto their seats in the general election Nov. 5.

SOUTHFIELD — The Southfield Public Library honored Indigenous People’s Day with a presentation by Darla Van Hoey, the president of the Southfield Historical Society, the day after the holiday, Oct. 15.

BIRMINGHAM/SOUTHFIELD — Father Chris Yaw, the rector at St. David’s Episcopal Church in Southfield, said that his 88-year-old dad has a great sense of humor. When asked how many children he has, he’ll respond, “Four ... so far.”

SOUTHFIELD — Several action groups descended on Southfield to protest rental laws and housing costs recently.
