SHELBY TOWNSHIP — On March 24, representatives from Shelby Township and the Macomb County Chamber of Commerce came together for the State of the Township address to share a comprehensive look at the recent accomplishments and plans in the township.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — Shelby Township is asking residents for their input through a survey to help plan the township’s updates to its master plan and its annual top priorities.

UTICA — Utica’s annual Puppy Parade will return at 2 p.m. April 29 with an even bigger event this year.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — The Macomb County Historical Society and the Crocker House Museum will be hosting their biggest fundraiser of the year — the Yvonne Leslie Pottery Luncheon — from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 15 at Shelby Gardens Banquets & Events, 50265 Van Dyke Ave. in Shelby Township.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — Local nature photographers have recently spotted two American bald eagles nesting in Shelby Township’s Holland Ponds Park with possible eggs in the nest.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP/UTICA/STERLING HEIGHTS — Theater students from Utica Ford High School last month gave the best performance in the school’s history of performing at the Michigan Interscholastic Forensic Association One-Act State Festival at Central Michigan University.

STERLING HEIGHTS — Andrea Misho, a PTO officer at Burr Elementary School and a co-adviser of the Macomb Community College Occupational Therapy Assistant student leadership organization, saw an opportunity in an underutilized space.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — The Shelby Township Senior Center has announced its featured artist for March and April.

UTICA — The city of Utica is in the process of updating its master plan and would like the public to help shape it.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — The Shelby Township Library reopened March 6 after an approximately two-month closure because of water damage that occurred after a building failure on Christmas Eve.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — The Shelby Gardeners Club is having a special presentation all about hummingbirds at its 1 p.m. April 13 program at the Burgess-Shadbush Nature Center in Shelby Township.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — Shelby Township residents Roy and Carol Townsend lost their son to cancer almost nine years ago, and now they try to help others from having to go through the same thing.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — Joel Morris, a firefighter/paramedic who served more than 20 years in the Shelby Township Fire Department and six years in the Utica Fire Department, currently is a paramedic at Universal Macomb Ambulance Service.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP/STERLING HEIGHTS/UTICA — Utica Community Schools teachers and counselors are using art to help students learn to take a break from everyday stress after school. 

UTICA — The city of Utica recently received a $2.5 million Michigan Enhancement Grant from the state of Michigan, with the assistance of former state Rep. Diana Farrington, to help the city with some projects.
