Village of Rochester Hills to host annual ‘Light the Village’ celebration

ROCHESTER HILLS — The Village of Rochester Hills, is welcoming the community to join them for its annual Light the Village holiday celebration.

The 375,000 square foot outdoor shopping center will be covered with more than 800,000 dazzling-colored lights and offer an evening of family-fun entertainment. The event was created to delight folks of all ages and include holiday music and entertainment, delicious food and a fireworks display.

“The Village of Rochester Hills is your go-to destination this holiday season. Starting November 17 through Christmas Eve, The Village will be offering free events all season long, including seasonal music from local carolers, a petting farm and reindeer visits, and free weekly walk-up visits to see Santa,” the event organizers stated in a press release. “With over 50 unique and sought-after retailers, including Von Maur, Lululemon, Woodhouse Day Spa, and Barnes & Nobles, guests can find something for everyone on their shopping list. The Village also offers a collection of restaurants that are sure to satisfy hungry holiday shoppers.”

The event will take place on Friday, Nov. 17 at the Village of Rochester Hills, located at the intersection of Walton Boulevard and Adams Road, at 104 N. Adams Road in Rochester Hills. Attendance is free. A free shuttle service from Adams High School will be offered beginning at 5:30 p.m.

There will be interactive demonstrations from 6-9 p.m. with stilt walkers, fire performers, LED performers, and balloon twisters. A magic show will begin at 6:30 p.m. There will be free face painting, arts and crafts compliment of the Paint Creek Center for the Arts and appearances by the Grinch and Sindy Lou Who. Santa Claus will make his grand entrance at 6:45 p.m. and will be available for visits from local kids between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m., although photographers will not be provided. The fireworks display will start at 7:15 p.m.

Food Trucks will be on-site including The Grilled Wrap, Delectabowl, Detroit Popcorn Co., Sugar Honey Macaroons, Armandos Taqueria and the Little Donut Truck.
