MACOMB/OAKLAND COUNTIES — With more than three decades of experience in Michigan’s competitive housing market, Michelle Carey has built a real estate practice centered on attentive customer service and consistent results. Working for CENTURY 21 Professionals, Carey came from a “real estate family”, daughter and stepdaughter of well-respected realtors, Glenda Lagrois and William Frohriep. She is focused on serving buyers and sellers across Macomb and Oakland counties.

Carey’s approach emphasizes clear communication, responsiveness, and a hands-on understanding of local market conditions. Clients frequently cite her ability to simplify complex transactions and keep deals on track from listing to closing.

That service-driven model has translated into strong performance. Carey regularly completes dozens of transactions annually, with total sales volume in the multi-million-dollar range and a long track record of satisfied clients.

“We see the real estate market picking up a bit right now since it’s springtime,” Carey said. “Interest rates are a little higher than we have seen in recent years but it’s still a good time to get into the market.”

Carey’s experience spans a wide range of property types and price points, allowing her to tailor strategies to each client’s needs—whether navigating competitive offers, pricing a home effectively, or managing relocation timelines.

The broader Metro Detroit market in 2026 reflects a shift toward balance, with inventory rising and giving buyers more options, while demand remains steady for well-priced homes. At the same time, home price growth has moderated to more sustainable levels, creating a more predictable environment compared to the rapid increases seen earlier in the decade, Carey said.

For example, most residential homes are selling closer to their original list price than at this time one year ago.

“Sterling Heights is a very strong market with high demand,” Carey said. She added that Washington Township homes seem to be appreciating at a higher rate than  most other neighboring communities, but demand overall is steady. “Macomb County continues to grow,” she added.

Carey believes in providing the highest level of service possible, which is why she works as a sole proprietor. “When you hire me, you get me whenever you need me,” Carey said. “I like to handle everything personally. I was making cold calls for my mom’s real estate business when I was 13 so this is in my blood.”
