SHELBY TOWNSHIP/STERLING HEIGHTS — Racing runs in the family for Andrew Bogusz, a 15-year-old sophomore at Stevenson High School who is in the school’s Center for Manufacturing, Automation, and Design Engineering program.

Andrew, of Shelby Township, is a third-generation driver following his father, Terry A. Bogusz, who was the 2008 Auto City Speedway track champion, and his grandfather, Terry J. Bogusz, who competed for many years at the Mount Clemens Race Track.

Andrew won the Blue Plate Clone Engine and Blue Plate Predator Engine division championships Oct. 2 at Arthur Raceway in Reese, Michigan. This was his first season racing dirt oval karts. The previous two years, he raced quarter midgets and participated in the Mount Clemens Grand Prix, which is a soap box derby event.

Arthur Raceway is a 1/8 mile banked oval dirt karting track that has racing on Saturdays from April to October.

Blue Plate Clone and Blue Plate Predator. Great young driver and couldn’t be more happy to have him be an Arthur Raceway champion,” he said via email.

Charlie Baur, who races with Andrew, said that he has seen Andrew adjust to the new racing quite well.
