Police find 1 dead, 1 critically wounded near Eastland Center

HARPER WOODS — A teenager dead from a gunshot wound to the head was discovered in the parking lot of the Eastland Center Shoppers World, while a second teenager was found gravely injured from a similar wound nearby.

At 7:20 p.m. Oct. 8, the Harper Woods Department of Public Safety received a call regarding a body lying in the parking lot of the mall. It was later determined to be a 19-year-old man. Once at the scene, police observed a vehicle that had crashed into the fence of a baseball field adjacent to Harper Woods High School. Inside the vehicle was an 18-year-old man who was rushed to a nearby hospital and was listed in critical condition as of Oct. 9.

Police said a third victim could be involved but did not elaborate. They also stated that a black 2019 or 2020 GMC Terrain with tinted windows and aftermarket chrome rims was spotted leaving the scene and that it was occupied by two or three persons.
