STERLING HEIGHTS — A man accused of raping a teenage coworker at a Sterling Heights restaurant in 2020 was recently found guilty of the act, according to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office.

STERLING HEIGHTS — A crew of suspected car thieves had a less than stellar time completing a heist at the Stellantis Sterling Heights Assembly Plant, near 17 Mile Road and Van Dyke Avenue, early in the morning of Jan. 17, according to law enforcement authorities.

BERKLEY — A St. Clair Shores woman has been arrested for allegedly embezzling many thousands of dollars from her former place of employment.

WEST BLOOMFIELD — According to a press release dated Jan. 24, a Detroit man who photographed his sexual assaults of a young child and forced an adult to engage in prostitution was sentenced to life in prison, according to U.S. Attorney Dawn N. Ison.

NOVI — Novi police are seeking the public’s help locating a stolen Chihuahua puppy and the dog thief.

TROY — A suspect has been charged in Troy connected with what police described as numerous reports of mail theft from residents.

BIRMINGHAM — After 38 years of service, Chief Mark Clemence has retired from the Birmingham Police Department.

HAZEL PARK — For the second time in as many months, a threat was made in the Hazel Park Schools district in early January.

WARREN — The Warren City Council has voted unanimously to approve a $22,950,000 Downtown Development Authority bond issue to build two new fire stations: Station 1 and Station 5.

NOVI — An off-duty Border Patrol agent noticed that a car was submerged in the pond near Manhattan Circle, near Beck Road and Grand River Avenue, as he was heading to work at 5:22 a.m. New Year’s Day and contacted police.

NOVI — Shoppers and staff at Twelve Oaks Mall, located at 27500 Novi Road in Novi, were forced to evacuate the building at around noon on New Year’s Eve after a smoke alarm was set off.

MICHIGAN — Firefighters are weighing in on new legislation led by two Michigan lawmakers, U.S. Sen. Gary Peters and U.S. Rep. Debbie Dingell, to help protect fire departments from perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances, otherwise known as PFAS or “forever chemicals.”
