Stevenson grad, CMU student gets scholarship
Central Michigan University junior Marisa Fisher earned a $2,500 Carl Parsell Scholarship June 8.

The scholarship is designed to assist Michigan family members of people who belong to either the Michigan Association of Police, the Michigan Association of Public Employees or the Michigan Association of Fire Fighters unions.

Fisher is a Class of 2021 Stevenson High School graduate, and she aspires to someday become a fashion stylist or work for a fashion magazine. Her mother works at the Sterling Heights Police Department as an administrative secretary.

“School can be very expensive, but getting support from different scholarships is very helpful, because I am also adding another minor and that adds a lot more classes,” Marisa Fisher said in a statement. “Getting a Carl Parsell Scholarship made it easier to be confident in my decision to add a minor in Journalism, instead of pushing it aside until I have more money to do it or just learning it myself.”
