TROY — The Troy Historic Village is inviting the community to join them to welcome in the holiday season with its annual Cocoa and Crafts event.

The event will take place from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2 and Sunday, Dec. 3 at the Troy Historic Village, located at 60 W. Wattles Road in Troy.

“Families return to our community events year after year because they find it’s a full experience for kids,” the village’s executive director, Jen Peters, said in a press release. “This isn’t a long line and quick picture with Santa and then you’re on your way; you’ll spend about an hour with us as you travel around the village visiting Santa, playing games, making a craft, and getting some hot cocoa, courtesy of the Troy Garden Club. We really work on making it the right fit for kids aged 2-8 but encourage all ages to join us!”

Families will get to spend some quality time chatting with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Children are invited to play indoor games like “pin the carrot on the snowman”and “snowman bowling,” and make some holiday bling at the craft station. Complimentary hot cocoa will be available, sponsored and served by the Troy Garden Club.

“Santa and Mrs. Claus” are really special people,” Youth Programs Director Alex Konieczny said in a press release. “We have worked with them for a few years now and they always do a great job. They make sure to spend some actual time with each family — not just ask what they want for Christmas. There’s always a fun story or something extra that you get. They do a great job taking cues from the kids too. Not every kid is super confident talking to Santa and they get that. Sometimes it means talking to Mom and Dad a bit more, or climbing on the floor with the kids instead of them sitting on his lap — whatever it takes to have a great interaction.”

Cocoa and Crafts with Santa will take place rain or shine. The event features free onsite parking at the Troy Historic Village. For discounted event pricing, guests may purchase their admission by noon on Friday, Dec. 1 at www.troyhistoricvillage.org. The advance price is $7 for Troy Historical Society members and $9 for non-members. Tickets also will be available at the door on a first-come, first-served basis. These tickets will be $8 for Troy Historical Society members and $10 for non-members). All children under age two are admitted free.

The 2023 Troy Historic Village Cocoa and Crafts with Santa is generously sponsored by Genisys Credit Union.
