UTICA — The American Legion Post 351 in Utica will hold its seventh annual community picnic from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 6 on the post’s grounds, and the public is welcome.

This annual event is held in conjunction with Post 351 and Marine Corps League Macomb County Detachment 154.

There will be hamburgers, hot dogs, salad, chips and pop, plus crafts and vendors, horseshoes, a 50-50 raffle, a silent auction, and activities for kids.

Utica Mayor Gus Calandrino said the event is a good opportunity to meet local community members and learn about the American Legion.

“This event is a great opportunity for members of the neighborhood to come meet the members of the post and learn more about the great things the post is doing in the community,” Calandrino said.

There will also be a bounce house and a Utica firetruck on-site to entertain the kids in attendance.

“If they ask nice, a Utica firefighter may show them how the hose works. Be prepared to get wet,” Calandrino said.

John Myroniuk, the first vice commander of the post, said there will be much for everyone to see and do.

“The event is family oriented and open to all veterans and family to include the general public. There will be military vehicles, (a Utica Fire Department) firetruck, (a) bounce house for the youngsters, face paintings, along with raffles, food, fellowship and other items for sale,” he said.

The post is asking that everyone donate $5 to support the veterans programs.

“Cost is a minimum $5 donation or what you care to give in support of veterans programs and the community in which we serve. We look forward to your attendance and appreciate the support,” said Myroniuk.

The American Legion Post 351 is located at 46146 Cass Ave. For more information, call (586) 731-9833.
