16th annual Kris Kringle Market returning to Rochester

ROCHESTER — The Rochester Downtown Development Authority is inviting the public to join them for the 16th annual Kris Kringle Market in Downtown Rochester.

The market takes place  from 4-10 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 1 and noon to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2 ,on West Fourth Street. between Main Street and Walnut Street. It will coincide with The Big, Bright Light Show.

The Kris Kringle Market is presented by Chief Financial Credit Union and is a festive-themed open-air market, where visitors of all ages can enjoy more than 35 hand-picked vendors, as well as holiday decorations, unique gifts, and a variety of seasonal foods. The Kris Kringle Market has become a cherished annual tradition for many residents and visitors alike.

“With one-of-a-kind shopping experience, festive food and drinks, musical entertainment and great gifts for the holidays, the Kris Kringle Market has certainly become a holiday tradition,” Taylor Knuth, the marketing coordinator for the Rochester DDA, said in a press release. “Families join us year after year making holiday memories together. It’s hard not to do with such a joyous atmosphere.”

The Kris Kringle Market's vendor village will be a treasure trove of delightful finds, where attendees can search for the perfect holiday gifts for loved ones. With everything from handcrafted ornaments to one-of-a-kind jewelry, vendors will provide numerous items to enjoy or buy as gifts.

Food will include roasting chestnuts and warm mulled wine, as well as traditional European fare, bratwursts, gingerbread cookies, and other seasonal snacks. Children can enjoy a visit and photo opportunity with Santa Claus, a chance to play in the child-sized gingerbread houses and a treat at the s’more station. Food and beverages will be available in the warming tent. Visitors can purchase a commemorative mug filled with hot-spiced wine or enjoy a handcrafted beer sponsored by the Rochester Mills Beer Co.

Proceeds from the warming tent will benefit the Rochester Area Youth Assistance on Friday evening and the Rochester Avon Recreation Authority on Saturday.
