As of the afternoon of Feb. 3, there had still been no arrests or charges issued with regard to the murder of Park resident Jane Bashara, whose body was discovered in her vehicle in an eastside Detroit alley Jan. 25.
Public Safety Chief David Hiller released a statement in a press release that read: “Our job as investigators is to prove facts beyond a reasonable doubt. In doing so, we must conduct a thorough and complete investigation. As a result, we are not going to answer any specific questions regarding the ongoing investigation.”
In an email sent the afternoon of Feb. 3, Wayne County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Maria Miller wrote that her office “has no news to announce regarding the ongoing police investigation into the homicide of Grosse Pointe Park resident Jane Bashara.” No warrant request had yet been presented, she said.
Hiller asked that anyone who might have information about the case contact the Park Public Safety Department at (313) 822-7400.
