A local man is hospitalized with severe head injuries after being struck by a car yesterday evening.
Police say they believe the 55-year-old man was intoxicated when he walked into a travel lane of 13 Mile Road Feb. 14 and was struck by a 2005 Ford Taurus traveling westbound down the road.
The accident occurred just east of Gratiot at 13 Mile and Erin. The driver of the Taurus, a 74-year-old Harrison Township woman, is not believed to be at fault, but officers continue to investigate.
The man is expected to survive.
