OAKLAND COUNTY — On Aug. 10, the Oakland County Board of Commissioners voted to put a measure on the November ballot for all Oakland County residents to decide whether they wish to approve a new millage and opt into an agreement with the Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation as a county instead of on a community-by-community basis.

OAKLAND COUNTY — Voters across Oakland County hit the polls on to decide races in the Aug. 2 primary election.

ROYAL OAK — On Aug. 2, Royal Oak voters in the city’s 24 precincts passed a millage proposal for the Royal Oak Public Library with 71.75% — or 11,993 votes — in favor and 28.25% — or 4,722 votes — against, according to unofficial election results posted by the Oakland County Elections Division.

ROYAL OAK/CLAWSON — In the Aug. 2 primary election, voters in Royal Oak and Clawson cemented which Democratic and Republican candidates in local, state and federal races will go head to head in the November election and approved a millage for the Royal Oak Public Library.

OAKLAND COUNTY — Ronald Dwyer bested Al Gui in the Republican primary Aug. 2 for the 3rd District of the Oakland County Board of Commissioners.

OAKLAND COUNTY/WAYNE COUNTY — In the primary election Aug. 2, Mike McFall, the mayor pro tem of Hazel Park, secured the Democratic nomination for the newly redrawn 8th District of the State House of Representatives. He defeated Madison Heights City Councilman David Soltis, Durrel Douglas, Ernest Little and Ryan Nelson.

METRO DETROIT — On the night of the Aug. 2 primary election, before the final results were tallied, Andy Levin conceded defeat to Haley Stevens. Her victory was confirmed the following day.

OAKLAND COUNTY — A new Oakland County Land Bank was approved by the county’s Board of Commissioners at its June 23 meeting.

ROYAL OAK — On June 21, an open house highlighted the talents of adults in the mental health rehabilitation program and celebrated 30 years of community service with complimentary ice cream and door prizes at Easterseals Michigan’s Dreams Unlimited Clubhouse, 1222 Catalpa Drive.
