METRO DETROIT — A rivalry usually captivated by the community in a free-spirited manner had a different feeling when Warren Regina and Bloomfield Hills Marian held their 41st annual powder puff football matchup on Sept. 17 at Hazel Park High School.

ST. CLAIR SHORES — Former St. Clair Shores Lakeview High School volleyball star Allie Hill earned a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week honor for her performances from Sept. 12 to Sept. 19.

MACOMB TOWNSHIP — It was all smiles for the five honorees as they stood at the 50-yard line at halftime during Macomb L’Anse Creuse High School North’s football game against Port Huron Northern on Sept. 9.

FARMINGTON — After dropping its season opener to Ypsilanti Lincoln, Farmington responded with impressive showings in back-to-back games.

TROY — On what felt like one of the hottest days of the summer, there sat a dugout full of baseball players who nobody heard a single complaint from.

ST. CLAIR SHORES — This isn’t the St. Clair Shores South Lake (3-0) of years past. Aside from its usual athletic talent, South Lake football coach Vincent Phillips has constructed a roster where its physicality matches its athleticism.

MOUNT CLEMENS — Eighteen-year-old Braydin Lewis, whose family lives in Angola, Indiana, was continuing his hockey career with the Mount Clemens Metro Jets in the U.S. Premier Hockey League back in March of 2022.

SOUTHFIELD — In one of the school’s biggest accomplishments since establishing an athletic program in 2012, the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics named Lawrence Technological University the recipient of the Champions of Character Five-Star Institution Award.

CLAWSON — What started as a bridge between Oakland County FC and its fans has become a competitive match, when it comes to the annual  Staff vs. Supporters game, which recently held its third edition.

ROCHESTER HILLS — Fifty-six. In just two games this season, Rochester Hills Stoney Creek (2-0) has averaged 56 points per game behind senior running back Jon Fogler.

GROSSE POINTES — Grosse Pointe North knew it would have a test when it went to face Warren Mott Sept. 1 at Warren Mott High School.

METRO DETROIT — It’s consistently the talk of Major League Baseball. Every year it seems there’s a major blow to a pennant-chasing team as its ace is shut down for the year due to Tommy John surgery.
