ROSEVILLE — For the first two rounds of the playoffs, Roseville football encountered some familiar competition.

MADISON HEIGHTS — Madison Heights Bishop Foley’s football program has already made history this season, but coach Brian Barnes and his team are looking to make a significant impact outside of the regular schedule.

MACOMB TOWNSHIP — Winning is contagious when it comes to Macomb Dakota athletics, and it all starts with football.

NOVI — It was a golf tournament that Novi High School junior Saanvitha Mullapudi will never forget.

ROCHESTER HILLS — Rochester Adams High School has finally added a state championship trophy to its collection.

GROSSE POINTES — It’s always a dogfight when the Grosse Pointe North and Grosse Pointe South varsity football teams clash, especially when it’s the last game of the season.

BLOOMFIELD HILLS — Bloomfield Hills High School senior Brooke Bugajewski finished 25th at the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division One Golf State Finals after tallying a two-round score of 169 at Bedford Valley Oct. 15.

BLOOMFIELD HILLS — There’s an expectation set when a school wins two straight state championships. Marian is a storied program with a history of success in multiple sports, but its volleyball program has been at the forefront of its recent success.

ROYAL OAK — Pink socks, pink shirts, pink gloves and pink hats; it’s all in recognition of breast cancer awareness month in October.

ST. CLAIR SHORES — It was an emotional night for the St. Clair Shores Lakeview High School volleyball team.

FRASER — There’s a new team calling Hockeytown home.

FARMINGTON HILLS — It’s been 21 years since Farmington Hills Mercy golf won a Michigan High School Athletic Association State Championship, but the trophy is finally back in their hands.

TROY — Following its regional finals exit to New Baltimore Anchor Bay last season, Troy (13-1-0) soccer is back and stronger than ever.

MACOMB TOWNSHIP — It’s a season that has been filled with significant success, as well as coincidental timing for Macomb Dakota, as they have dominated the Macomb Area Conference’s Red Division en route to the state playoffs.

ROSEVILLE — Roseville High School has been patiently waiting to make a name for itself in the playoffs, with only eight appearances since 1989. Last year, the team made a statement by winning a district championship.

GROSSE POINTE WOODS — The Grosse Pointe Public School System community tailgate is back for another year to celebrate the Grosse Pointe North vs. Grosse Pointe South football game, but with a little bit more of a normal feel this year.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — In a 30-lap sprint car race Oct. 1 in Sandusky, Ohio, 16-year-old Shelby Township resident Andrew Bogusz led for the majority of the race and picked up his second Maxima Racing Oils Must See Racing Midwest Lights feature win of the season.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — Eisenhower High School football is back. After a 3-13 record the past two seasons, Eisenhower (5-2) has returned to the powerhouse it once was during its 35 straight seasons without a losing record from 1985 to 2019

BIRMINGHAM — The 2021 Birmingham Seaholm football season was a far cry from the state semifinals team in 2019.

CENTER LINE — Center Line High School football has longed for the days of its 2002 season when the school saw its team go 9-2 and earn the program’s last playoff win.
