WEST BLOOMFIELD — Alana Yaksich, a West Bloomfield resident, was an average 5-year-old on Feb. 1, 2003. She spent the day with her family, watching movies and eating ice cream alongside her brothers. 

That evening, Alana developed a high fever and was rushed to the hospital. Within hours, Alana died from swelling and injury to her brain due to flu complications.

TROY — The Troy Community Center will have on-site physical therapy services early next year. 

At a Sept. 25 meeting, the Troy City Council unanimously approved a five-year sublease with two five-year renewal options with the Detroit Medical Center — Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan for 487 square feet of space at the community center for a physical therapy clinic and to provide health and wellness programs.
