WARREN — A Warren man died after a midday head-on collision on Hoover Road, north of 12 Mile Road, on Oct. 5.

Detective Todd Murray of the Warren Police Department said the 22-year-old driver, who was not named by press time, was behind the wheel of a Chevrolet HHR traveling north on Hoover at Common Road at about 12:30 p.m. Witnesses said the HHR crossed into southbound traffic and collided with a Ford Edge.

The driver of the Edge reportedly suffered a concussion and was treated at the hospital. Her two small children in the vehicle were uninjured.

Murray said it had not yet been determined exactly what caused the driver of the HHR to veer into southbound traffic and that the driver of the Edge was unable to avoid the collision.

“There was actually a truck that was in front of her. (The truck driver) spotted him coming over and was able to get out of his way. She had no way of trying to avoid the accident,” Murray said.

Final toxicology results remained pending at press time, and the investigation was ongoing.
