METRO DETROIT — State Rep. Shri Thanedar, D-Detroit, will be squaring off against Republican Martell D. Bivings in the race for the newly drawn 13th District seat in the U.S. House of Representatives in November. Both candidates also will be running against independent write-in candidate Anthony Carbonaro.

MACOMB COUNTY/OAKLAND COUNTY — The field is now set for the November election in Michigan’s new 10th District of the U.S. House of Representatives.

BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP —  A public safety millage renewal in Bloomfield Township, which also includes a millage increase, got the green light from voters Aug. 2.

METRO DETROIT — Tudor Dixon has emerged as the presumed winner of the Aug. 2 race for a Republican gubernatorial nominee. 

MADISON HEIGHTS/STERLING HEIGHTS/TROY — In the primary election Aug. 2, Aisha Farooqi won the Democratic nomination for the 57th District of the Michigan House of Representatives, prevailing over Marcia Squier.       

On Aug. 2, Fraser residents voted to approve a new millage supporting the Fraser Public Library. It will replace a previous millage that has remained unchanged since 1963. It was approved with 1,870 votes being cast in support of it, which was 57.

METRO DETROIT — On the night of the Aug. 2 primary election, before the final results were tallied, Andy Levin conceded defeat to Haley Stevens. Her victory was confirmed the following day.

WARREN — The bonds set for two suspects following a shooting at a Warren gas station earlier this month have been increased after Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido said he was “outraged” over the low amounts set by a visiting judge. At approximately 10:10 a.m.

HAZEL PARK — A woman’s car was stolen after she was allegedly confronted by three masked gunmen late at night in Hazel Park — one of whom reportedly fired a gun as she fled on foot. The incident reportedly occurred around 12:30 a.m.

HARRISON TOWNSHIP — The Harrison Township Fire Department and Macomb County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a fire that broke out in the early hours of July 24 that left one woman dead. The fire took place at the Shores of Lake St. Clair Apartments.
