BERKLEY — The Berkley Downtown Development Authority executive director will be leaving his role next month.

OAKLAND TOWNSHIP — A 57-year-old woman from Oakland Township was arrested after police discovered more than 1,150 methamphetamine pills and over $37,000 in cash in her home.

WIXOM — With the assistance of the public, police have identified a suspect who allegedly robbed the Chillbox gas station on the corner of Wixom Road and Grand River Avenue in Wixom, on the border with Novi, Dec. 21.

NOVI — The People’s Express transportation service company will continue to be housed at the Novi Civic Center for at least another six months while the company continues its search for an adequate facility nearby, and the city will continue to provide subsidies to Pex, as People’s Express is known, so that older adults and residents with disabilities are able to ride the bus for free.

METRO DETROIT — A Detroit lunchtime staple is coming back home. Atwater Brewery founder Mark Rieth, of Grosse Pointe Farms, has purchased Velvet Peanut Butter and plans to bring production of the beloved sandwich spread back to Detroit. 

FERNDALE — A 32-year-old Ferndale man was arrested after an incident where he allegedly sexually assaulted a woman and barricaded himself at home.

OAKLAND COUNTY — Berkley, Clawson and Royal Oak schools once again are partnering to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. with a Day of Service.

FERNDALE — With Ferndale’s Headlee override operating millage set to expire at the end of the year, the city is looking to present residents with a proposal for a new millage.

TROY— Oakland County Parks  was awarded $2,175,000 by the Michigan National Resources Trust Fund to purchase the property known as Turtle Woods from the Troy School District  and establish Oakland County Parks’ first nature preserve with assistance from the Six Rivers Land Conservancy.
