A Troy man suffered a broken leg after his girlfriend reportedly deliberately struck him with the Dodge Durango she was driving and pinned him to a tree following an argument.
Police received reports that a vehicle had chased then struck a pedestrian on Big Beaver near the Troy Civic Center just before 11 p.m. Feb. 18. Officers found the victim lying on the ground in a wooded area near the Civic Center with a broken leg, his girlfriend on the scene, police said.
The man told police his girlfriend, 31-year-old Troy resident Lakya Monique Garrison, drove the Durango at him twice after he got out of the SUV, closely missing him, then drove at him a third time, striking and pinning him up against a tree, breaking his leg, Troy police officer Andy Breidenich said.
Garrison reportedly parked the Durango in a lot and walked back to the wooded area next to the Detroit Marriott, Troy, off Civic Center Drive, where she’d struck him.
Police arrested her for felonious assault and transported the man to the hospital for treatment for his broken left leg.
Garrison was arraigned in Oakland County Circuit Court without an attorney. Bond was set at $5,000/10 percent surety.
