A Shelby Township woman died in a car accident that occurred at 8:50 a.m. Feb. 12 on Rochester Road, north of Gunn Road.
According to a police report, the 20-year-old woman was driving northbound on Rochester Road when she lost control of her 1999 Chevrolet Lumina on a snowy stretch of roadway.
The car started to slide sideways, crossed into the oncoming lane and was hit on the passenger side by a 2008 Pontiac G5 diving south on Rochester Road.
Members of the University of Michigan Survival Flight Team airlifted the Shelby Township woman, Jessica Emily-Evadene St. Amour, to William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, where she was treated for severe head trauma, a broken right femur and a pelvic fracture. St. Amour died the next day.
The driver of the Pontiac, a 51-year-old Orion Township woman, was transported by ambulance to Beaumont Hospital, Troy with chest pain and, at press time, was listed in stable condition.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts and police do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
