A man was found dead inside a vehicle outside a Ferndale business from what police believe was a gunshot wound to the head.
Detective Lt. Bill Wilson stressed that Ferndale police do not suspect that any foul play was involved. “This was just a suicide, as far as we can tell,” he said. “There was nothing nefarious going on here.”
According to Wilson, on the afternoon of Feb. 5, Ferndale officers responded to a report of a man who was lying motionless and bleeding in a minivan parked in front of O’Brien’s Service, an auto repair shop located at 242 W. Marshall St., just west of Woodward Avenue. “It turns out that he had shot himself in the head,” Wilson said.
He added that Ferndale police are not revealing any personal information about the man “out of respect for his family and friends.”
