MADISON HEIGHTS/HAZEL PARK — In the general election Nov. 7, voters in Hazel Park and Madison Heights settled contested council races for their cities.

MADISON HEIGHTS — Five proposed amendments to the charter of Madison Heights passed with overwhelming support Nov. 7, updating how the city approaches everything from appointments and resignations to the rules of running for office and how often meetings are held.

ST. CLAIR SHORES — On Nov. 7, St. Clair Shores voters elected Ronald Frederick, Chris Vitale and Linda Bertges to serve on the City Council for the next four years.

FRASER — Michael Lesich has defeated incumbent Mayor Mike Carnagie in the Fraser mayoral race, according to unofficial results posted by Macomb County election officials.  Lesich defeated Carnagie by a margin of 1,341 votes (59.9%) to 896 votes (40.

SOUTHFIELD — Southfield High School for the Arts and Technology football has a special group of playmakers at its disposal, so it was devastating for the team in 2022 when their season ended in a 25-14 loss to Detroit Cass Tech in the district finals.

TROY — The city of Troy will be receiving a new city manager in 2024. Current City Manager Mark Miller formally announced his plans to step down from the position in May.

NOVI — After 48 years of dedication to the city of Novi, Mayor Bob Gatt decided the time was right to close the “local politics” chapter of his life and let someone younger lead the city.

FRASER — The Baumgartner House Museum in Fraser is once again open to the public, just in time for the holiday season.
