HAZEL PARK — At the end of August, Green Acres Park will once again host countless pieces of art while serving up mouthwatering food, refreshing drinks and toe-tapping music, all part of the Hazel Park Art Fair.

MADISON HEIGHTS — Plans are coming together for the new Active Adult Center, to be located between Madison Heights City Hall and the Madison Heights Public Library at Civic Center Plaza on 13 Mile Road west of John R Road, and connected to each building.

HAZEL PARK — Since the early 2000s, Hazel Park Neighborhood Enrichment has been living up to its name by keeping the community bright and vibrant, with beautification efforts encouraging residents to take pride in their homes, and gardening projects across the city.

MADISON HEIGHTS — New playscapes are coming to Rosie’s Park and Civic Center Park, and a new pavilion is in the works for Rosie’s Park, as well. Along with the disc golf course that recently opened at Rosie’s Park, the changes represent efforts by the Madison Heights City Council to improve quality of life in the community’s green spaces.

MADISON HEIGHTS — A local business is offering haircuts for a good cause, with proceeds benefiting the Madison Heights Food Pantry. 

SOUTHFIELD — Later this week, Southfield will kick off its “Summer in the City” concert series with the first of four shows.

MADISON HEIGHTS — Red Oaks Waterpark is set to open for the summer season June 25, and guests can look forward to the return of the popular River Ride after its closure last year due to staffing issues.

HAZEL PARK/MADISON HEIGHTS — A tense situation at Best Buy in Madison Heights escalated quickly when two teens, armed with a gun, allegedly tried to escape with their stolen goods, leading police on a high-speed chase across multiple communities that ended in a crash.

HAZEL PARK — Green thumbs across southeast Michigan are invited to request seeds for marigold flowers and then grow them at home, so that their blooms can be donated to a massive walk-through art installation this fall in Hazel Park.

MADISON HEIGHTS — After a two-year absence, the Festival in the Park is set to return the weekend before Independence Day.

LATHRUP VILLAGE — The leaders of Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties met May 11 to discuss topics ranging from mass transit, infrastructure and electric vehicles to a divided workforce, rancor in politics, and support for mental health.

SOUTHFIELD — The Southfield Department of Public Works has a new director at the helm, tasked with overseeing the city’s many infrastructure-related needs.
